The Van….Home Sweet Home!
Posted by Samara Sideways | Filed under Uncategorized
So I bought a van, to convert to my new home! I am so happy, less stress for me! It is a 1982 Chevy G30 1 ton. There are a few problems with it, but I will beable to over come these in consideration of the price I paid. First ant probly the most expensive fix is reverse dosent work but we will see on that, till I have the cash for a new transmission I will just have to not park anywhere I have to back out of. Secondly is the sliding side door, the track “hinge” thingie is old and has gotten gummed up, so it comes off the track EVERY-TIME you open or close the door. I have spent some time figuring out how I want to design the inside….I think I will need to maximize the available space while making it suitable for my personal needs. More to come on that later, tho.

January 21st, 2010 at 12:55 PMAre you going to set up a separate battery bank? “Starting” batteries don’t like to be drained very much and will get damaged quickly. Unless you plan on only using the inverter while the engine is running, you might want to look at getting a separate battery and an isolator (isolators run between $30-$60, deep cycle batteries run from $80 on up).
